Early voting and MOtown in Venice, health screenings, more

Early voting for the Nov. 3, 2015 City of Venice General and Town of Longboat Key Bond Referendum elections will begin on Monday, Oct. 26, and continue through Friday, Oct. 30.
Get ready to relive the hits of Motown and beyond as an exciting, high energy group unleashes superior vocals and slick dance moves powered by pure soul at the Venice Community Center.
The "Artists in the Libraries" series, now ongoing at eight Sarasota County Library System locations, offers visitors a chance to experience a free studio art session with a trained teaching artist.
Early bird registration is now open for Sarasota County's 10th annual Sustainable Communities Workshop, to be held Thursday, Dec. 3.
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County's (DOH-Sarasota) Health In Motion Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) staff will provide free and low-cost public health services at 10 sites around the county during October.

Update on Bee Ridge Roadwork


Below are notes gathered through "the grapevine" offering info regarding deadlines and other construction decisions. This is not official info shared by Sarasota County.
--Road completion date moved one month form Apr/May to May/June due to weather. Roundabouts will be last element completed.
--No date on Mauna Loa build up and re-route.
--Contractor has had over $50,000 worth of tools and materials stolen from there storage site at the end of Bee Ridge. Ask neighbors to report any activity on the road after hours where equipment or other materials are being removed.
--Water locations east of Bent Tree in front of churches will be filled in before sidewalk can be placed.
--Contractor is wiring all street lights—FPL will make hot and contractor will turn on sometime this month, before daylight savings is over.
--Where fence will be situated, all 550’ will be set at a constant height of 6’ relative to side walk.
--No dates yet on start of roundabout at Iona.

Gulf Gate Public Library recently earned LEED Silver certification, which recognizes the application of best-in-class building strategies and practices for improved environmental and human health. 
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County's (DOH-Sarasota) Health In Motion Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) staff will provide free and low-cost public health services at 10 sites around the county during October.
Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent invites the public to observe the logic and accuracy testing of the county's voting and tabulating equipment to be used in the Nov. 3  City of Venice General and Town of Longboat Key Bond Referendum elections. 
Keep your home looking spiffy by taking part in the South Venice Community Cleanup, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 24.
