More reason to be alert

We are receiving unofficial reports of burglaries and attempted break-ins around 3 a.m. on two separate occasions recently. In one case, someone seems to have triggered an alarm when they entered through a partly open window in a garage. In the other, a male suspect allegedly made off with valuable items left in an unlocked truck parked in a driveway. Both instances took place at houses located at the far end of Mauna Loa Blvd. Anyone with any information should contact the Sheriff. Anyone interested in becoming actively involved in the neighborhood Citizens Patrol, contact Ted at 379-0758, or email him at TCover6161@aol.com There is discussion of stepping up Patrols and doing late-night rounds.

Daylight Burglary

According to an email fowarded from a neighbor, police are investigating a home burglary that occurred yesterday, Feb. 18, on Luawanna. The home was broken into through the front door. A TV and a safe were among the items stolen. If anyone saw anything or anyone suspicious, please contact the Sheriff's office. Also, if you happen to see any evidence - papers, broken safe, etc., please contact them as well. This is yet another reason why Citizen's Patrol needs your support. Contact Ted at 379-0758, or email him at TCover6161@aol.com.

Crime patterns - tip

This is just informal info - it seems that the peak times for criminal activity are 3 pm - 4 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Again, this is just preliminary, but you might want to keep an eye out - especially if you're in the 6800 blocks of Mauna Loa. Ted is doing a more in-depth analysis of the past five months of Sheriff's reports of break-ins and other police calls in Lake Sarasota. We'll update as soon as he's ready. Also: Citizens Patrol reports still seeing many garage doors open well after dark last night - many without the lights on. This is an invitation to certain visitors, folks!
