Lots west of Lake S: Comments and documents in court case

Image
Residents of Lake Sarasota - not all, but a few hundred - have received a letter notifying them of a lawsuit. Apparently someone wishes to develop more than 100 lots between the current western boundary of Lake Sarasota and I-75. Below are comments from NextDoor regarding what it all means: The letter, as people have pointed out, is confusing and difficult to understand. But here's what I've gathered from reading it: There are a bunch of people who own undeveloped wooded lots in Lake Sarasota abutting Route 75. These landowners (of the wooded lots) want to sell their properties to developers. A "Development Review Committee" has already met (on July 19, 2018) and seemingly approved the development of the wooded lots. BUT...residents of Lake Sarasota had created the "1988 Declaration of Restrictions for Lake Sarasota, the 1995 Amendment to the Declaration of Restrictions for Lake Sarasota, and the 1996 Declaration of Restrictions for Lake Sarasota", wh...

Update on FDOT plan for Bee Ridge Exchange

Image
We asked a representative from FDOT to update us on plans for the Bee Ridge interchange. Here's the latest as of today: The Florida Department of Transportation anticipates conducting informational meetings in late-January/early-February 2017 where display boards will be set up in an open-house format in which attendees will have the opportunity to view the project and ask questions of FDOT staff and its project engineering consultant team. A video presentation will also be provided that will review the history of the project, a detailed description of the current design and hopefully address many of the questions you and others may have about the project. Check for updates at the project website . Two questions: 1. Does the plan for the continuous flow intersection at Cattlemen call for two legs or four?      The slide attached, of the Bee Ridge Road/Cattlemen Road intersection, was taken from the presentation given during the July 26, 2016 public hearing. As s...

FDOT Plan for I-75 at Bee Ridge

Image
The release below from FDOT offers a brief overview of the plan for Bee Ridge Road and I-75, with major changes, and widened roads and highway. Note there is a public information gathering on Tuesday Dec. 15th - details below. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One is preparing design plans for future widening of approximately 3.8 miles of Interstate 75 (I-75) from south of Bee Ridge Road to south of Fruitville Road and reconstruction of the I-75/Bee Ridge Road interchange in Sarasota County, Florida. In December 2011, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved a preferred alternative from the Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) study of I-75 from south of SR 681 to north of University Parkway in Sarasota and Manatee counties. As part of the PD&E study, two public hearings were held in 2009. At the I-75/Bee Ridge Road interchange, the preferred alternative maintained the existing partial cloverleaf interchange but added turn lanes o...
