New Express bus service between North Port andSarasota Beat the high gas prices and commute to work on SCAT's new Express bus service between North Port and downtown Sarasota. Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) will debut its new Express bus service on Monday, April 25. With local gas prices nearing $4 per gallon, SCAT's new Express service will provide commuters between North Port and downtown Sarasota with an affordable transportation option. For just $2.50 one way or $5 round trip, a rider can make the 70-minute, one-way trip with limited stops between North Port and Sarasota. (MORE) |
Animal Services Spring Adopt-a-thon Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Animal Services will hold its spring Adopt-a-thon this Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Animal Services is located at 8451 Bee Ridge Road, east of I-75 across from Rothenbach Park. During the event, animal lovers can meet dogs, cats, puppies andkittens that are available for adoption at significantly reduced fees. Adoptive parents will receive a "starter kit" with food, treats and other useful items. The event will also be a celebration to honor the shelter's many volunteers and to introduce citizens to volunteer opportunities at Animal Services. Sarasota County Extension Service wants your input on long-range planning for state program The Florida Cooperative Extension System is conducting a planning process that will shape Extension programs in Florida for the next decade. This joint effort of the University of Florida (UF) and the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) will allow us to have a clear path of action as an educational organization to support Florida's economy, environment, and people that is relevant and flexible to meet the changing needs of Florida's communities. Listening will be at the core of Extension's long range planning effort. UF/IFAS Sarasota County Extension would like your input to identify educational programming priorities and future directions for Extension as part of a state and local planning initiative.
