County neighborhood grant workshops begin in August
A series of free grant orientation workshops under the Sarasota County Neighborhood Grant Program are being held through October at several locations around the county. Learn what improvement projects are eligible for the program and how to apply for a neighborhood grant. 
Sarasota County to host 'Open House' workshop on coastal fringe flood protection 
Sarasota County staff will host an open-house workshop, 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Englewood Sports Complex to present a study that looks at neighborhood flooding due to excessive rainfall.
Young adults reminded to get vaccines
As part of the August Immunization Awareness Month campaign, local health officials remind people, especially young adults who are 19-26 years old, to catch up on their vaccinations.
Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale and EdFest scheduled for Oct. 12 
Sarasota County Extension Master Gardeners will hold their Ninth Annual Plant Sale and EdFest, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Sarasota County Extension offices at Twin Lakes Park.
Consumer alert: Companies are charging more for certified copies of property deeds than local Clerk
Be alert for solicitation letters from companies offering a copy of certified property deeds for much higher that the Clerk of the Circuit Court, which charges only $1 per page, plus a $2 charge for document certification and mailing. Most requests start at only $3 and are processed within 72 hours.
