Most Sarasota County Government offices, including the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.. 
Sarasota County is hosting three upcoming public workshops at multiple locations seeking input from area residents and business owners about the county's future solid waste master plan. 
Every year people are taken to hospital emergency rooms in the United States because of injuries from fireworks. What's the best way to stay safe and enjoy the Fourth of July? Sarasota County Fire Department advises community members to celebrate by attending public fireworks displays. 
Don your Stetson and grab your boots, because local country music sensation One Night Rodeo is bringing its smooth-as-sipping whiskey harmonies mixed with a high-octane, full-throttle show to the Venice Community Center.  
Sarasota County's beach lifeguard operational hours have been extended from 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. daily. The extended hours will run through the Labor Day weekend.
