Paving complete, Bee Ridge set to open two lanes after striping

Bee Ridge is nearly complete - the paving is mostly done - striping to come, and additional trees at Golf Course Blvd and Iona. Use caution at roundabouts.

After striping is done, barrels will be lifted and road will be open to two-lane flow in both directions.

A reminder that the Grand Opening Celebration is Nov. 28th, 2 pm at the Colonial Oaks Baptist Church (at Golf Course Blvd) parking area. Snacks and beverages will be on hand.

As children get caught up in the excitement of Halloween, they can sometimes forget to be careful, leaving them more prone to accidents and injuries. The Sarasota County Fire Department offers tips for keeping kids safe this Halloween.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office will host a job fair to recruit communications operators (9-1-1) for the Emergency Operations Bureau. The job fair will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center, located at 6050 Porter Way, Sarasota.
Sarasota County will hold a public workshop on the proposed Interstate 75 overpass connecting the future Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and Cattlemen Road at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Church of Hope, 1560 Wendell Kent Road, Sarasota.
Sarasota County Area Transit announced that free Wi-Fi is now available on all buses and bus routes.
Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent is reminding voters to confirm their polling place locations before election day. There are recent changes in polling locations, including two changes effective for the Nov. 8
General Election.
Sarasota County's Health In Motion staff will provide no-cost health screenings and referrals for general health and wellness during November. A Registered Nurse will help individuals who lack medical insurance find a medical home for ongoing health care through referrals to the Community Health Centers of Sarasota County. 
Join Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources as it celebrates the 100-year anniversary of Phillippi Estate Park with a series of free events the weekend of Nov. 12-13.

Invitation to the Fall Festival & Planning Meeting

The Lake Sarasota Fall Festival is on 11/5 from 10 am-2pm at the Lakeview Park Pavilion. More people are signing up to bring something every day.
