Security on agenda for Lake Sarasota Meeting June 27

Recently a flyer was distributed in Lake Sarasota suggesting that the neighborhood suffered a high rate of crime. However, statistics from the Sheriff's Office do not support this, and some are wondering what the neighborhood can do to ascertain the facts, and improve home security. To learn more, a representative of the Sheriff's Office will speak and answer questions at our next meeting. To accommodate our speaker, t he date has been moved to Thursday, June 27, 7 pm at Sarasota Alliance Church , 7221 Bee Ridge Rd. A full agenda will include: 1. Sheriff's Representative on the facts about Lake Sarasota, and things the neighborhood and all homeowners can do to make their homes more secure. 2. An update on the Bee Ridge Road Widening, developments opposite the entrance, signage, lighting, etc. 3. Timing for neighborhood beautification and cleanups - Hina Park, the lakes, general cleanup, new flag. 4. Other business as might come up.

Neighborhood Security Update

We received this note tonight from Ted, who monitors Sheriff's reports of crime in Lake Sarasota: You won't believe the latest crime data for Lake Sarasota! The official Sheriff's Dept. reportshows only three crime incidents for May--two acts of vandalism on Jarvis Road and one juvenile disturbance on Lanai. All incidents occurred on the same day, May 19. The vandalism incidents occurred at 6512 and 6518 Jarvis, and were reported at 8:36 and 9:23 a.m. respectively. The juvenile disturbance occurred at 4219 Lanai and was reported at 10:07 p.m.  The proximity in time and place of the two vandalism incidents make it appear that they were the acts on one perpetrator. It's interesting that, for a change, all three criminal acts occurred in the western part of Lake Sarasota. See you on the 27th! The next Lake Sarasota Community Meeting is set for Thursday, June 27 .
