Bee Ridge roadwork update for Thanksgiving week:

Public gets to see plans for Bee Ridge at I-75 - Highway widening

On Tuesday, Dec. 15, District One staff of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public workshop regarding design improvements to Interstate 75 from south of Bee Ridge Road to south of Fruitville Road in Sarasota County, the department has announced.
The session has been scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the offices of the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee, located at 2320 Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, a news release says. FDOT will give interested persons the opportunity to view the proposed design, review displays, talk one-on-one with staff and make comments about the project, the release adds.
The 3.8-mile project will include reconstruction of the I-75 interchange at Bee Ridge Road from the existing diamond configuration to a hybrid diverging diamond interchange and southbound diversion ramp, the release says. The department also will transform the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Cattlemen to a continuous flow intersection, the release notes, pointing out that the I-75/Bee Ridge Road interchange and the Bee Ridge Road/Cattlemen Road intersection are “in very close proximity to each other.”
Further, the project will widen I-75 from south of Bee Ridge Road to south of Fruitville Road to an eight-lane highway with three through lanes and one auxiliary lane in each direction, the release continues. FDOT also will widen the bridges over Palmer Boulevard and Phillippi Creek and replace I-75 bridges over Bee Ridge Road, the release adds. The project includes the widening of about one mile of Bee Ridge Road from west of its intersection with Maxfield Drive to west of the Mauna Loa Boulevard intersection.
People requiring special accommodations pursuant to the Americans with Disability Act or people who require translation services (free of charge) at the meeting should contact Jamie Schley at 863-519-2573 or by email at jamie.schley@dot.state.fl.us seven days prior to the meeting, the release continues.
