Most county offices to close for July 4 holiday

USA flagMost Sarasota County government offices, libraries, recreation centers and transit services will be closed Monday, July 4, to observe the national Independence Day holiday. However, Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. and the Arlington Park Recreation Center will be open from noon-5 p.m. (MORE)

County offers surplus equipment in online auction

Sarasota County is launching an online auction website that will make it possible for people to bid on surplus county office equipment and other items.

I can't believe that so many people that live in Lake Sarasota have no regard for the law about fireworks.I cringe every time I hear all the booms and see the ones that explode in the sky. What part of illegal do they not understand. Thank God for the rain that will help with any fires that could start. I really wish the police would be riding around in this neighbor tonight.
