Selby Children's Library will close temporarily during remodeling project

Selby LibraryThe $1.2 million remodeling of Selby Public Library, 1331 First St., Sarasota, is proceeding on schedule with the next phase to include the temporary closing of the Children's Library Aug. 19 - Sept. 2. While the Children's Library is closed, participants of children's programs are encouraged to attend similar activities and events at North Sarasota Library, Fruitville Library and Gulf Gate Library. Items reserved for pickup from the children's collection still will be available at Selby Library during this time frame. (READ ON)
Newtown community cleanup scheduled Saturday, Aug. 20

BroomsIt's time to clean out the garage and gather up yard waste and discarded household items. Sarasota County will hold its annual free community cleanup in the Newtown area from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Dumpsters will be provided by Waste Management and will be available at three locations for materials from residents. There is no fee for disposal of items. (READ ON)
County offers training to comply with pain management clinic ordinance

PillsTry A training workshop on how to comply with Sarasota County's new pain management clinic record-keeping database will take place from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at the Fruitville Library, 100 Coburn Road, Sarasota. The workshop is for persons working in or operating pain management clinics in Sarasota County. (READ ON)
Jacaranda Library hosts exhibit of children available for adoption

Heart Gallery logoJacaranda Library in Venice will host The Heart Gallery of Sarasota, a photo exhibit featuring local children available for adoption. The exhibit will be on display in Jacaranda's main entrance from Aug. 5-31, 2011. The library is located at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd., Venice. (READ ON
