We're changing our website
Take a look around, then take our survey and tell us what you think. We're also holding two focus groups to collect input about how we can continue to enhance the site's contents:

New online vendor registration
financial transVendors who want to do business with Sarasota County will be able to use a new, free online procurement system beginning in March. Read how eProcure will simplify the vendor process in Sarasota County.

Author has a way with words 
Mark Mustain, recipient of the 2011 Florida Book Award for his novel "The Gendarrme," comes to the Sarasota Library series, "A Way with Words" Friday, March 2.

County approves field name 
Sarasota County has approved the naming of a baseball field designated for children with disabilities. The new field, located in Longwood Park, will be called the Orioles Pirates Miracle League Field of Manasota.

Dental care for North Port kids
Low-income and uninsured children from five North Port elementary schools will soon receive preventive dental care through a 3-year, $95,000 grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Foundation.

Englewood cleans up
Sarasota County will hold its annual community cleanup in the Englewood area from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 3. The cleanup is for residential customers only.

District 1 community forum 
Join your District 1 city and county commissioners, along with local experts, March 8, for an important panel discussion on the current state and future of community safety and the evolving structure of education.

Wheels keep on turning
The Legacy Trail celebrates its fourth anniversary with a "Tour de Parks' ride Sunday, March 25. Bike 20 miles on fully paved trails, or try the 35 or 65-mile rides on trails and public roads. Breakfast is sponsored and served by First Watch. Register by March 11.
