Boat ramp closing for dredging
RowingThe boat ramp at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota will be closed to the public July 12-19 to allow for dredging of key portions of the lake.
New website launches July 16

Law changes for disabled parking permits
DisabledFlorida has new requirements for replacing a permanent (blue) disabled person parking permit. The state made these changes to ensure that persons receiving the permits are truly disabled.
New Clerk office hours
Both offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court have reduced hours of service to the public. As of July 1, the Clerk's main office at 2000 Main St. in Sarasota, and the Venice branch at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail, are providing service from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
County requests FEMA damage assessment
Emergency Management officials have asked FEMA to conduct anassessment of local private residences and businesses to see if the county may be added to federal assistance grants.
Voter information cards mailed
The Supervisor of Elections has begun mailing new voter information cards to all 280,000 registered voters. The cards contain new voting districts, and precinct and polling location changes.

Child FemaleWith local schools scheduled to resume Aug. 20, Sarasota County public health and school officials remind parents toget children's immunizations updated now.
Can we remove storm debris from your road?
Debris removal on private roads after a natural disaster is at the discretion of Sarasota County, but signed indemnity agreements allow cleanup to begin sooner for the areas impacted. Here's a list of covered communities.
Mobile health services in July
DoctorGet free or low-cost health services this month at 14 sites around the county from the Health Department's Health in Motion Mobile Medical Unit..
ISO rating improves for some
FIreHatThe Insurance Services Office will change an area in Sarasota County to an 8b rating,which could reduce insurance premiums to residents in Myakka Valley Ranches, most of Saddle Oak Estates, Saddle Creek and the Forests of Hi Hat.
Lake Sarasota cleanup July 21
Sarasota County will hold its annual freecommunity cleanup in the Lake Sarasota area from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 21.
Be a 'master money mentor'
Get one-on-one financial training to share educational assistance with low- and moderate-income families. The training is free, Aug. 1-3, at the Sarasota County Extension office at Twin Lakes Park. Registration is required by Aug. 1
