SATURDAY: Sarasota County will hold its annual free community cleanup for the Proctor and Wilkinson area Saturday, June 7.
SATURDAYJoin the celebration of National Trails Day Saturday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. for a ribbon cutting to officially open the renovated Nokomis Community Park playground.
Volunteer Community Connections will conduct its second annual mock disaster exercise on Wednesday, June 11,  6-7:30 p.m., at North Port Library.  
The black and white photographs of J.B. McCourtney that chronicle more than seven decades of "old Florida" are now on display in the Terrace Building, 101 S. Washington Blvd., Sarasota.    
Parents who are looking for healthy activities for kids this summer can find a great one at the "Kids' Summer Beach Runs" presented by Sarasota County Parks and Recreation and New Balance Sarasota.  
The meetings take place in June and July for those interested in learning more about proposed changes.  
Sarasota County's beach lifeguard operational hours have been extended from 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. daily. The extended hours will run through the Labor Day weekend.  
Sarasota County's website now has "one-click" access for citizens to ask questions, make requests, and provide comments about the county, its services and programs.
