The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) of Sarasota County, which is part of a national network of local volunteers, exemplifies how a committed team of volunteers can make a difference in the health, safety and resiliency of 
our communities.
Financial professionals and non-profit agencies will host a variety of presentations during "Money Smart Week @ Your Library," April 18-25 at Sarasota County libraries. 
SCAT will not be traveling through the Publix parking lot at 535 S. Tamiami Trail, in Venice.
For one day only, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, the Sarasota Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is accepting payment for overdue traffic tickets and criminal fines and fees without charging the 25 percent collection agency surcharge. 
Elsie Quirk Public Library will host a special program aimed at helping people face some of life's biggest challenges.
Real estate agents, landlords, property managers, architects, multifamily complex builders, permitting officials and all community members are invited to attend a free Fair Housing seminar at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Selby Public Library, 1331 First St., Sarasota.
The Arbor Day Foundation recently awarded Sarasota County the "Tree City USA" designation for 2014, based on the county's demonstration of environmental improvement and higher level of tree care. 
To celebrate Earth Day, Sarasota County and local partners invite the public to volunteer in a seagrass survey on Saturday, April 25, at Ken Thompson Park in Sarasota. 
Keep your home looking spiffy as a community cleanup event comes to Kensington Park in Sarasota from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 25. 
Residents and visitors are invited to ride Sarasota County Area Transit buses for free Saturday, April 25, in celebration of Try Transit Day 2015.
The Pistol and Rifle Range at Knights Trail Park will be closed to the public starting Monday, April 27, for a lead remediation project overseen by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission.

North Port Public Library will host a special video presentation of a 2013 interview with the late Dr. Eugenie Clark, the famed "Shark Lady" of Mote Marine Laboratory, on her early dives at Warm Mineral Springs and Little Salt Spring. 
The Community Health Center of North Port Inc., which partners with the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County (DOH-Sarasota) to provide affordable health care to over 30,000 people annually, changed its name to the Community Health Centers of Sarasota County (CHCSC) to better reflect its connection to the entire county.
