Sarasota County was recently named a "Tree City USA" community for the 25th consecutive year by the Arbor Day Foundation, an achievement that demonstrates the county's continued commitment to positive environmental stewardship.
Sarasota County reminds residents to "Be Floridian" and refrain from applying fertilizer containing nitrogen or phosphorus from June 1 to 
Sept. 30.
Parents who are looking for healthy activities will appreciate the Kids' Summer Beach Runs, presented by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, and New Balance Sarasota.
Saddle up and join Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources for a bike rodeo at Shamrock Park and Nature Center to kick off the summer reading program at the Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda 
Public Library.
Edson Keith Mansion will host a free, family-friendly archaeology event onSaturday, June 25.
Sarasota County will continue offering a backstage pass to residents through the popular Civics 101 program, which returns Thursday, July 7.
