April 5th, 9 a.m.: Help Beautify Mauna Loa
Trash bags will be provided, but please wear gloves and sunscreen! Twenty volunteers would make this take less than an hour for most participants. Each ounce of trash adds up; note below the impact this event has on a national level. J
To volunteer, please email your contact info to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Kim Davis at 650-0301.
We would also like to have a "refreshment stand" similar to what we did during the Community Yard Sale (which was very successful!) and sell the remaining sodas, hotdogs and chips. If you would like to volunteer for this, please email or call Sandy Allen: email@example.com or 321-5582
The Great American Cleanup has made a 23-year impact of creating a cleaner, safer and more beautiful environment. Last year, more than two million volunteers collected 228 million pounds of litter and debris and 2.5 million scrap tires. Volunteers removed 37 million plastic bottles from the waste stream, cleaned 10,000 illegal dump sites, recycled 39 million pounds of aluminum and steel, planted more than 5.5 million trees, flowers and bulbs, and cleaned nearly 6,000 miles of rivers, lakes and shorelines.
