Sandy ClawsAmerica's best beach hosts the 35thannual Sandy Claws Beach Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the 
Siesta Beach pavilion. This year's run features a DJ spinning tunes, healthy snacks, a raffle, and of course, a visit from Santa.

County offers administrator job to Randall Reid
Randall ReidPending a satisfactory pre-employment background check and physical, the Sarasota County Commission today approved hiring Randall Reid as the county administrator, replacing Interim County Administrator Terry Lewis.

Take a slow surrey ride
Legacy Trail SurreyFriends of The Legacy Trail is giving a lift to those who  cannot otherwise share in the trail experience. The Legacy Trail surrey departs the Laurel Community Center and Trailhead every Tuesday and Wednesday at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Rides are free.

Contracts approved for Gulf Gate Library, ATMS
Gulf Gate LibraryOn Dec. 6, Sarasota County awarded a $1.1 million construction contract for Phase 2 of the Advanced Traffic Management System, and a $740,750 architectural and engineering contract for the new Gulf Gate Library.
