April 19: Help us celebrate National County Government Month in April at the Sarasota County Open House. Learn about numerous county programs and services, and hop on one of the new Express buses for a short tour of newly completed county improvement projects. Ask questions of county staff, and find out how we're serving you.The open house takes place from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, April 19, at the downtown Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. The bus tour starts at 12:30 on a first come, first served basis.

Big Truck Day rolls into town
Big Truck Day PromoSATURDAY: If it's big and has wheels, you'll probably find it at Big Truck Day, April 14. The kids can climb inside cabs, pull the levers, push the pedals and honk the horns. Bring a camera to record the fun!

County cuts ribbon on improvements
Ribbon cuttingCompletion of $2.3 million in infrastructure improvements to north Sarasota neighborhoodswill be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 17. The event begins at 9 a.m. at 2323 N. Euclid Ave., Sarasota.

Try transit (for free!) April 19
SCAT will offer free rides to all transit users on regular fixed-route or commuter Express buses to celebrate "Try Transit Day" on Thursday, April 19. The standard fare is normally $1.25 for fixed-route service and $2.50 for Express.

Are you ready for the summer!
Sarasota County Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for summer camp programs. Sign up now for traditional, adventure, specialty and therapeutic camps. Financial assistance is available for qualifying Sarasota County residents.

Kensington Park cleanup is April 21
Sarasota County will hold its annual free community cleanup for Kensington Park area residents from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 21.
