New mowing program begins 
Green YardSarasota County has restructured its mowing program to assure that roadsides and medians are maintained to county standards. The mowing backlog is expected to be eliminated within 30 days. A mowing schedule will be made available on www.scgov.net. 
Get your feet wet this winter 
seagrassVolunteer for Sarasota County's nationally recognized and award-winning seagrass survey program. Volunteers must attend a training session Aug. 4, from 1-3 p.m. 
'BOGO' at county campground
Sarasota County residents can now staytwo consecutive nights for the price of one at Turtle Beach Campground on Siesta Key. The offer runs through Aug. 31 and requires proof of residency.
Newtown community cleanup
Sarasota County will hold its annual  free community cleanup in the Newtown area from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.
August mobile health services
DoctorThe Health Department's Health in Motion Mobile Medical Unit will provide free and low-cost health services at eight sites around the county and one special event in August.
Disaster recovery center opens
Federal Emergency Management officials have opened a Disaster Recovery Center at Venice City Hall for property owners who sustained damage from Tropical Storm Debby.
Aug. 14 primary early voting
Early voting for the Aug. 14 primary begins Saturday, Aug. 4, and continues through Saturday, Aug. 11. Cast your ballots at any one of five locations between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Sarasota County is hosting a public meeting about plans forsidewalks in the area of the Fruitville 210 Community and Deer Hollow subdivision. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 5-7 p.m., Fruitville Public Library.
Can we remove storm debris from your road?
Sarasota County must have signed indemnity agreements to cleanup up private roads after a natural disaster.
